This tutorial will show you how to set up your dedicated IP address on the ExpressVPN GUI app for Linux.

In order to set up dedicated IP on the ExpressVPN app for Linux, you need the following:

  • An active ExpressVPN subscription
  • A dedicated IP subscription
  • The ExpressVPN app installed on your Linux machine
  • A phone or other mobile device (such as an iPad)

Once you have all these, follow the instructions below to set up your dedicated IP on Linux:

  1. Open the ExpressVPN app for Linux and click Add-ons.
  2. Under Privacy and Security, click Dedicated IP.
  3. Under Set Up Your Dedicated IP on Your Phone, select Click here.
  4. Scan the QR with your mobile device. Depending on whether or not you have the ExpressVPN app installed on your mobile device, one of two things can happen:
    • If you already have the ExpressVPN app installed on your mobile device, scanning the QR code will open the app on said mobile device.
    • If you have not installed the ExpressVPN app on your mobile device, scanning the code will prompt you to download and set up the ExpressVPN on said mobile device. Once you have downloaded either the Android or iOS app, continue with step 5 below.
  5. On the ExpressVPN app on your mobile device, a popup will appear prompting you to set up your dedicated IP. Tap Set Up Now.
  6. Choose a VPN location for your dedicated IP. Once selected, tap Continue.
    Note    : The location you choose is fixed for the duration of your add-on. You cannot change it after setup.
  7. Set your access code. Enter your new access code twice, then tap Continue > Done.
    Note    : This code is the only way to access your dedicated IP on other devices, so we recommend setting a strong, unique code and keeping it somewhere safe. If you lose your access code, ExpressVPN cannot retrieve it—even with your authorization—and you will lose access to your dedicated IP.
  8. Look out for a notification on the app telling you that your dedicated IP is ready to use. This may take up to 20 minutes.
  9. Once you have received the notification, return to your ExpressVPN Linux app and click Refresh.
  10. Click Unlock with Access Code.
  11. Input your access code, then click Unlock Dedicated IP.

You can now connect to your dedicated IP by selecting it from the list of VPN locations.
