The MTV VMAs 2023 are happening on Tuesday, September 12, at 8 p.m. ET. The show will be held at the Prudential Center in Newark.

Who will receive the Video Vanguard Award at the 2023 VMAs?

Colombian superstar Shakira will take home the Video Vanguard Award at the 2023 VMAs. She’s only the second Latina artist to receive the award. As part of VMA tradition, she will also put on an extended performance featuring a medley of her career-spanning hits.

Who will receive the Global Icon Award at the 2023 VMAs?

Rapper, producer, actor, and record executive Sean “Diddy” Combs will take home the Global Icon Award at the 2023 VMAs. He’ll also take the stage to perform a medley of hits spanning his decades-long career, his first VMAs performance since 2005!

Who are the 2023 VMA nominees?

Taylor Swift leads the nominations with 11 nods, including Song of the Year for Anti-Hero. R&B artist SZA has six, while Doja Cat, Olivia Rodrigo, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Sam Smith and Kim Petras all have five nods. This year’s show includes four new “digital/social categories” that viewers can vote for on Instagram. They are Show of the Summer, Group of the Year, Song of the Summer, and Album of the Year.
